The broadcasting watchdog Ofcom confirmed that they are ‘currently assessing’ complaints over his comments he made about being gay.
The former heavyweight champion boxer was chatting to The Apprentice runner-up Luisa Zissman when he made his remarks. Zissman had asked him whether any boxers had come out as gay adding: ‘I think it’s really bad that no-one stands up and says it in the sporting industries.‘I think it’s good to be open about that because it’s normal.’
But Holyfield didn’t agree answering: ‘What would be good about it? That ain’t normal.’He added: ‘It is a choice, come on, that ain’t the way nobody is made.If you were born and your leg were turned this way, what do you do, you go to the doctor and get it fixed back right.’
Big Brother called him to the diary room later to warn him about his views.Holyfield insisted he was just expressing his opinion. Stating, I was just telling her my opinion, but it’s not like I was gonna mention it to anybody else, that was just our conversation.’
Was Holyfield right to get reprimanded or should he know better?!
